- Smiling stretches the facial muscles and softens the voice. Place a mirror beside the phone and smile into it before answering the call. Smiling will soon become a habit and you can throw away that mirror.
- Record yourself and listen to your voice – are you speaking too fast, or too slowly? Practise listening to yourself and be your own judge – do you like what you hear? If not, modulate your pace and tone.
- Imagine you are speaking to a friend; listen attentively so that you don’t miss anything.
- Write down a script for the various questions and queries you may be asked so you are familiar with the words and phrases you need to respond efficiently.
